The sanctuary in winter.

The most important events are:

  • 17th January: Saint’s Day of Saint Anthony Abad, the patron saint of the countryside and animals. It is repeated on the following Sunday.
  • 19th March: St. Joseph’s Day. Patron saint of the Basque Diocesan Missions.
  • 13th June: Saint’s Day of St. Anthony of Padua, patron saint of the poor and the needy. It is repeated on the following Sunday.
  • The second Sunday in July: Blessing of the children.
  • The third Sunday in July: Blessing of Married Couples at the Sanctuary. Day of the Family.
  • The second Sunday in October: Thanksgiving Day. URRIXENA.
  • In summer, pilgrimages are held in the Arratia and Aramaiona valleys, on the Saturday before and after St. Anthony’s feast day, as well as in Izurtza (16th August), Mañaria (last Friday in August) and Abadiño and neighbouring villages (last Saturday in August).
  • Mass is said at 11.00 a.m. every day.
  • On Sundays, mass is said at 12.00 and 13.00 and 18.00. The majority of the services are in Basque, but mass at 13.00 (and 19.00 in summer) is in Spainish.
